A reflection on Big Dance
Greenwich Dance had a wonderful time as the hub for South East London
We began with a map, some pins, and a mission to get the region dancing. The result was a large-scale festival across the Boroughs of Bromley, Bexley, Lewisham and Greenwich, built in partnership with local dancers, arts organisations and councils. From 21 May to 11 July, Greenwich Dance staged over 40 activities across the area and over 20,000 people experienced the spectacle.
We animated 4 parks, 2 town centres, 1 army barracks, 1 palace, 1 meadow and countless streets and buildings with dance.
Greenwich Dance’s aim was to capture the imagination of local people, and to present dance in a new and exciting light. From the community workshops to the major outdoor performances, we were thrilled with all the work produced.
We want to say a big thank you to everyone involved and see you in two years time for Big Dance 2012!
