This month Nutshell Dance present People InTransit.

People InTransit takes its inspiration from train and bus stations and airports, the behaviour of individuals and the movement of people through them. Choreographed by Mari Frogner, Nutshell Dance use the idea of these spaces as a metaphor for life in Modern London, with people coming and going, and some staying longer than others. Using signs and symbols to communicate the dancers negotiate their way in the melee of city life.

The music is formed from fragments of found sound looped and slowly repeated, snatches of conversation, sounds of dance movement, words transcribed into notes, and altered electric guitar sounds.

Originally commissioned by Fruit for the Apocalypse with funds from the Royal Borough of Kenisngton and Chelsea for InTRANSIT 2011. People InTransit was also performed at The Bermondsey Street Festival in September and SsshBOOM at The Rag Factory in October and at the Robin Howard theatre in Janauray 2012 as part of Resolution.

Here's a film of the piece as performed at the Commonwealth Institute to give you a taster.
